Second DUI Expunged for Man in Illinois
Published: Jan 04, 2017, by in DUINowadays, when so many opportunities are tied to background checks and the ability to portray yourself as an upstanding member of the community, the importance of maintaining a clear criminal record cannot be overstated. Recently, Illinois criminal defense attorney Michael O’Meara came to aid of a man when he was charged with his second DUI. While this offense could have resulted in significant time in jail and losing his ability to drive, the man had the foresight to retain the services of a very capable DUI defense lawyer.
Attorney O’Meara fervently defended his client during a trial and achieved a not guilty verdict, which alleviated a lot of the man’s concerns. However, the man was also worried that the mere appearance of a second DUI offense on his record would create problems down the road, and he discussed the possibility of erasing the entire incident with O’Meara. With this goal in mind, attorney O’Meara pursued a total expungement and after a contested expungement hearing, the judge agreed with O’Meara’s argument that his client should not be saddled with an unsupported blemish on his record. The man could now rest assured that this DUI charge was stricken from his record and would not hold him back.
The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
