No Conviction for Man Facing Theft and Fraud Charges
Published: Jan 06, 2017, by in TheftO’Meara Law, LLC recently helped a man after he was charged with some very serious theft and fraud charges, revolving around the possession of dozens of credit cards and stealing thousands of dollars from numerous bank accounts. The man was extremely stressed and overwhelmed by the trouble he had become involved in and knew that he’d need a knowledgeable and highly skilled criminal defense attorney with considerable experience working within the Illinois criminal court system.
Attorney O’Meara reviewed the man’s situation and eventually met with the prosecutor to discuss the case. It became clear that if his client was convicted the prosecution was going to pursue a 364-day sentence in Cook County Jail. Not wanting to see his client incarcerated for such a significant length of time, attorney O’Meara advocated on the man’s behalf. After a conference with the Judge, O’Meara successfully negotiated to allow his client to participate in court supervision. Because of the O’Meara’s resolute approach, this man was saved from any time behind bars and would even avoid a criminal conviction. In addition, and due in large part to O’Meara’s representation, after his client completes the terms of his supervision, the entire charge will become eligible for expungement.
The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
