Domestic Battery Charge Dismissed and Expunged

Published: Jan 13, 2017, by admin in Assault & Battery, Criminal Defense

Situations involving domestic violence allegations are understandably sensitive and usually very complicated. If you find yourself accused, it is critical that you consult with a skilled criminal defense attorney, who can help navigate the grueling criminal process and will work to set things right. For example, when a man was charged with domestic battery, he came to the Chicago criminal defense lawyer Michael O’Meara to help avoid or reduce the potential consequences such a charge could have on his life and reputation.

Attorney O’Meara promptly relieved many of his client’s legal worries by negotiating to have the domestic battery charge dismissed. While this removed his fears of having a criminal record or being required to serve time behind bars, the man did not want the charge to appear on any future background checks and authorized O’Meara to pursue a total expungement. This was accomplished by filing a petition with the court; however, O’Meara ran into interference when the request was contested by the prosecution. Through his adept ability to explain the facts and reasoning behind his client’s petition, the Judge agreed to grant the expungement and his client left the courtroom with this unfortunate incident purged from his record.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
