Chicago Drug-Related DUI and Drug Charges Reduced to Petty Offense

Published: May 24, 2017, by admin in DUI

Recently, Chicago DUI attorney Michael O’Meara aided a man after a routine traffic stop resulted in drug-related DUI and possession of marijuana charges. These offenses are taken very seriously in Illinois and could potentially result in substantial fines, a license suspension, and even time behind bars. The man knew that he’d need to build a strong defense if he wanted to avoid such grim repercussions so he contacted O’Meara Law in his time of need.

Once he reviewed the evidence, attorney Michael O’Meara acted as a strong advocate for his client and filed a motion that challenged the legitimacy of the police officer’s initial stop. When the prosecution was presented with this motion, attorney O’Meara used it as leverage in his negotiations. Through this tactic and by utilizing his extensive experience with DUI and drug cases, attorney O’Meara arranged to have the marijuana possession charge dismissed and the drug-related DUI amended to a much less severe violation for negligent driving. Upon learning of this astounding result, the client was ecstatic to see his legal troubles so quickly and effectively handled.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
